MPKV has pioneered in rural development and extension of new agricultural technologies to the farmers since its establishment. Extension education is one of the important mandates of the university. The Directorate of Extension Education was started in the year 1981 for the planning and execution of programmes of extension work based on the results of research and work in cooperation with the other Directorates of the University.
The Directorate of Extension Education supervises and controls all extension education activities of the University. The Directorate of Extension Education, in close consultation with the Government Development Departments and other allied departments is responsible to provide them with the improved research findings of the University and cause to publish extension bulletins, circulars, news article and press release which summarize important research findings of benefits to the farming community.
The Directorate performs activities like co-ordination of extension education activities in the jurisdiction of University. The Directorate through its various units viz., Agricultural Technology Information Centers (01), Regional Extension Centers (04), District Extension Centers (05) and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (17) performs this pivotal activity by organizing on campus and off campus extension programmes viz., Training programmes, FLDs, Farmers Rallies, Field Visits, Diagnostic Team Visits, On Farm Trials, Exhibitions, Field days etc. for transfer of technologies and collecting feed back.
