In accordance with the provisions under clause (V) of Section 29 of Statute No. 14 (I) of the Maharashtra Agriculture Universities, 1990, the "Agricultural Research Council" is constituted to serve as an advisory body on all the research matters of the university. The Council meets once in year. Vice Chancellor is the Ex officio Chairman and Director of Research is the Ex officio member secretary, Director of Instructions, Director of Extension Education, Commissioner of Agriculture and Animal Husbandary of Maharashtra State, Director of Horticulture, Fisheries of Maharashtra State, One Director of Research from other Agril. University and One Chief Research Officer from university are the members of the council, while Director (Research), MCAER, all Head of the Departments, all Associate Director of Research and all Crop specialists are the invitee members for the council. The council, serve as an advisory body on all the research matters of the university and advice Vice-Chancellor and Executive Council on all research matters. Also the council, review the research programmes, formulate research policies and make recommendations for provision of research facilities.
The Groupwise Research Programme Planning meetings are organized every year in the month of February-March for the planning of new research programme to be implemented from the ensuring next year. Vice Chancellor is the Chairman, Director of Research is the Co-chairman and respective Head of the Department is the convener for the Research Programme Planning Meeting. Taking into the consideration of current need of farming community, state government and feedback from various line departments, Research programme of each scientist is examined and finalized in Research Programme Planning Meeting.
The Groupwise Research Review Committee meetings are organized every year in the month of January. Vice Chancellor is the Chairman, Director of Research is the Co-chairman and respective Head of the Department is the Convener for the Research Review Committee. Research Findings of the ongoing and completed research experiments are examined and recommended for release in Research Review Committee meeting.
State Agricultural Universities in Maharashtra and Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education and Research (MCAER) are jointly organizing 'Joint AGRESCO' once in year (in the month of May) on rotational basis. The Pro Chancellor of State Agriculture University is the chairman and Vice Chancellors of all four State Agricultural Universities in Maharashtra are the Co-Chairman for the 'Joint AGRESCO'. The technologies passed in Research Review Meeting are reviewed for release in 'Joint AGRESCO' meet.
